What began as a joke spawned a local celebrity garden gnome with a loyal following

Gnermal the Traveling Gnome

You may be thinking what the hell does a ceramic garden gnome have to do with music? Allow me to introduce you to Gnermal the traveling gnome.

So what’s the deal and who is Gnermal?

Gnermal is a garden gnome whose story is that of a lonely gnome “rescued” from a thrift store in Holbrook, AZ. by Daniel Gallegos in 2005.  Starting off as a joke, two pictures were taken of Gnermal by himself, in front of a sign that said “Hello” and posted on Gnermal’s very own Myspace page.  After the laughter died, the gnome was then tossed to the back of his rescuer’s car and pretty much forgotten.

3 weeks later CNN featured a story which was aptly named “The Gnome Phenomenon”. The report covered people around the world taking photos with garden gnomes and posting them online. At which point the two photos posted on Gnermal’s Myspace page were featured.

After a humble beginning and only 4 page views on his Myspace page, Gnermal suddenly had multiplied his page views by over 5000% in one day following the CNN broadcast.  Myspace friend requests were flooding in and soon enough Gnermal was being invited to clubs and parties all over the place.

Today Gnermal travels from one event to another with his human pet Dan taking pictures with bands, celebrities, and anyone else who wants to be part of Gnermal’s entourage.

This garden gnome is going places.

Gnermal has seen a hell of alot during his recent rise to stardom, from the lovely ladies of Fetish Revolution to his latest appearance at the Phoenix Xmas rave. Expect to see more of Gnermal in upcoming events as he continues to tour Arizona and possibly other states.

You can visit Gnermal at www.myspace.com/gnermalgnome.
