I absolutely love this CD. I’ve had it for about 3 months now and it still gets regular playtime in my play list. If you’re looking for a bunch of mindless noise this is definitely not the CD for you. I can tell Head put ALOT into the lyrics and for his first solo album it ROCKS. Brings back memories of back in the day when KoRn was actually good.

This is an amazing CD, hard to even call it a CD cause it really is a powerful message. One of hope, Brian’s story from his heart. He put it all out there with this album. And along the way has helped a lot of people Save themselves. So if you haven’t purchased this Amazing Album I suggest you do. It will change your life!

another piece of mainstream ‘christian rock’ music. enough with the dogma covered in drop d tuning. start feeding people , start listening to others’ stories. enough with the false bullshit christianity.

This is an amazing album. The lyrics are raw and true. Things that I have thought, but never knew how to put into words. What a testimony Head is…Musically, amazing! Head…you have no reason to be self-conscience of your voice, and your guitar abilities have only grown since Korn’s self titled. Thank you for putting this album out, and keep them coming.

There all amazing songs, but in order the best being first. 1.Washed by blood 2.Shake 3.Home 4.Loyalty 5.Adonai 6.Save Me From Myself 7.Die Religion Die 8.Money 9.L.O.V.E 10.RE-BEL 11. Flush (only b/c I burned myself out waiting for the release, still love it though).

    What I expected plus some.
The guy made it big with a band that basically dominated a genre for years. They were known for touring and playing great shows. So, Head finds God and splits the band. Hey Anon, (funny how cowards gotta post as anonymous) You want the guy to crawl under a rock? I wanna say, Head actually went and built some orphanage or something oversees. I could be wrong. Just saying though, before you go open your mouth, maybe you should know something about your claim.

    Now about the music…
After listening through the entire album now over a dozen times, it feels like Korn after meeting the Pope & being convicted of potty mouth. If we’re rating it against Positive/Christian albums in the genre, it takes the cake. Oathsworn, Anberlin, ZAO all have good stuff out there too, this one takes it though.
However, you can tell the lyrics in some songs aren’t as tight as the secular counterparts in many respects. I would like to see a follow-up album from Head, and see if he can push out of the sterotypical Korn fills and samples. Then I’d give it a full 5/5.

Innovative album especially in this era of boring metalcore music…you must get this album, even if you are not a Christian or whatnot…the music and lyrics are solid, deep, and wont disappoint for sure, especially the song titled, “Save me from myself”…go and get it and listen to it…oh and I am not trying to knock metalcore bc many of the metalcore bands are actually my favorite such as Lamb of god, Shadows Fall, Killswitch as well as old school metal such as Metallica, Megadeth, Black Sabbath,…anyways if you have an open mind to music regardless of what you believe in then this is a must get album for sure…Brian Head Welch clearly demonstrated why he was such a predominate force back in the Korn days without question.

Awesome cd. Korn is my favorite band of all time and I am a christian, though I do not agree with their lyrics I love the music and their sound. So… when I found out that Head had left the band because he found God I was pretty dang excited about it… I read his book(in a day because it was so good… I couldn’t put it down!)… and once his cd game out I ran out to the stores when they opened to get it. The music is awesome and to all the people who put that this is your “regular old christian rock blah blah blah cd” you probably haven’t listed to this cd. First off yes, there are songs about him finding Christ however a lot of the songs are about his experiences in Korn and his drug addictions. So no… this isn’t your regular christian rock cd.. it’s a freakin’ awesome cd!!!

by the way… I’m in a christian band it’s not like Head’s music but check us out!!! myspace.com/ninjalootcore

    be blessed!

This is an excellent cd. I used to listen to Korn before I came to know the Lord. I still enjoy the sound of this type of music, but I am very cautious of the lyrics of the music I listen to. Sadly alot of music that sounds like Korn is also morally liberal with their lyrics. Brian Welch’s new cd has quickly become one of my favorites. If you like Brian Welch and would like to know some other bands that are heavier with good lyrics there is, Project 86, Kutless, Thousand Foot Krutch, Red, Pillar, Jonah 33, Pillar, The Showdown, Disciple, Dead Poetic and many more.

There’s a lot to praise with this album. But I’ll leave my praise for God(I can tell that Head is a humble guy…he doesn’t need praise). Even so I’ll give a tribute. I work with drug addicted homeless people looking for a way out…ragamuffins. This album is for them. Their life is a no joking around, you could be dead tomorrow life (sadly; they too often, are dead tomorrow). The album is an album of redemption….”come on get up let’s change…”. And redemption only comes from Adonai Yeshua! (Jesus)

Personally I really identified with the lyrics “life is boring, same old story, get drunk, throw up, sleep all day…” and I’m very thankful that that life is over with.

Overall this album is hit and miss for me , you can def tell HEAD put a lot of thought into it though. FLUSH was a nice way to come into the secular metal world. Id rate it 4 outta 5. Still waitin for Munkeys sound from FEAR AND THE NERVOUS SYSTEM too.

It’s 2008, and by now just about everyone in tune with the rock world has heard of Brian “Head” Welch’s change of lifestyle nearly three years ago. Welch left his hit band Korn behind because of personal reasons and was able to kick a drug addiction with the help of God and Christianity. He decided to continue with music of his own (with well-traveled Josh Freese on drums). Not quite succumbing to stereotypical Christian style, his songs have intensities ranging from spirituality to anger. They are actually edgier and darker than those of Korn. God had told him to let out his aggression, and that’s precisely what he has done in his first solo attempt, Save Me from Myself. His autobiography of the same title is worth reading bearing in mind it came to fruition first and this album is a soundtrack of sorts, much like Nikki Sixx’s Heroin Diaries. Reading the book and then listening to the music will provide a better understanding of the album’s messages.

Save Me from Myself isn’t preachy, though. It’s a collection of stories and messages with regards to Welch’s interactions with others and personal thoughts and habits. This might be an album that takes a few spins to truly appreciate, but even not having read the book it easily remains enjoyable. The layers of programming make a thorough sound and mesh well with the guitars, obviously Welch’s bread and butter. Songs such as “Flush,” “Re-Bel,” and “Save Me from Myself” center on negativities like drugs, alcoholism, and depression. Songs such as “Die Religion Die,” “Adonai,” and “Washed by Blood” center on religion and Christianity. The lyrical composition is anything but lacking – it’s arguably the strongest aspect, and rightfully so considering the genuine essence. There really isn’t anything unimpressive, other than the vocals perhaps being slightly better than tolerable.

Brian “Head” Welch wasn’t joking when he said he expected to inspire people.

This album absolutely rocks, I have not taken out of my cd player in my truck and at home since the release date, and they arent cd changers either LOL. Best of all it has a really positive message, and everyone I know that has heard it with me said ” Theres no way a Christian rocks like that”. Well, Head proved them wrong

This album is incredible. its very powerful and straightforward. Head pulls no punches in sharing his beliefs and faith. I love it. I love all the songs (some more than others, but still). Head’s music is very unique sounding. A lot of Christian bands aren’t as creative as possible, but Head’s music is very creative. The two slowest songs on the album (Save Me From Myself and Washed by Blood) are easily the most powerful lyrically. these songs truly help me realize just what happened when Christ died for me and how important and special it is in my life.

Head, if you read this, thank you SOOO much for giving me (and other Christians) an incredible Christian album (and a new hero). I look forward to see what you come up with next.

PLZ come to Soulfest. I’d LOVE to see you perform there

THE BEST ALBUM FROM 08′ EASY !
THE SOUND – PERFECT (JOSH FREESE ON DRUMZ)
THE LYRICS – DEEP & REAL
THE VOCALS – AMAZING (FROM SINGING TO YELLING/SCREAMING BACK TO SINGING)
THE OUTCOME – A SOUNDTRACK FOR CHANGE, FOR FORGIVENESS,

This album is a great accomplishment for Brian. The songs and lyrics reflects that heart of someone who has been broken down to their very inner being. Only to find hope and salvation in something other than what this world offers to us all. I am glad he took a stand against everything he had become.

Tracks 7 & 10 are great works of art.

I literally can’t get enough of this CD. Brian brought these raw feelings of emotion, and you can tell that he put his heart & soul into this album. Brian takes you on a journey through his past to what he has become today. He definitely shined through the criticisms of leaving Korn, and starting a new life. I fully respect this guy and his music has opened my eyes.

I’ve already reviewed the album #11 – this comment is more to the folks that have commented about Head being the reason for KoRn’s great success. I beg to differ.
KoRn as a whole were something fans wanted and they (KoRn) delivered. In my opinion the talent in KoRn was at a high level with each member, each doing their job quite well. Let’s try and remember what happens to bands with only one main talent. Case in point: Limp Bizkit, and Guitarist, Wes Borland. A prime example of before and after. Wes made LB, and after he left there was no return to glory.
We would be irresponsible to fail to mention, Head was not the only member to leave KoRn. He was the first, but not the last.
The issue with KoRn is they worked too well together, they are all very talented, but they relied on the techniques each brought to the table to have success. When those techniques disappear and are difficult to replace (Head on Guitar) things become difficult. Still a phenom – Still a great album, but not the only talent on KoRn – IMHO.

I love this albulm. You can really see the change in him. I can’t wait for the next one to see his spiritual growth. I like the lyrics and the transparency. The way it has things coming from what God’s point of veiw may be is cool. I also enjoy the fact that it is real heavy. Like I said earlier Can’t wait for more although no pressure LOL

The Lyrics are great and True. A lot of spiritual meat and potatoes…not the simple “milk” that are in a lot of Christian songs out there. These songs are about true reality that many face today…and the music sounds great as well. Whether your a Christian or not, you WILL enjoy this CD. (Read his book as well)

… …someone finally get me… somebody finally actually understands and was able to put into words how I have felt since I was young enough to remember & was raised in a snooty “organized religion” parish community in Cincinnati… …there is hope… I am a huge metal head, always have been since I found it, but I just recently found “Christian” metal, thanks to The Silent Witness Show, 88.3 FM Cincinnati, 8-10 pm Saturday nights, in the summer of 08. I never knew anything but “amy grant music” even exhisted… This is all so awesome & new, but I have to say the best thing I’ve heard at all – by far, is this CD. There are a couple other really cool ones out there, & most of those are either girl bands, or at least female vocals – man – they rock these days… (never knew), but If I could only take 1 cd with me – anywhere – this would be the one!! Thanks Brian – & God Bless you for being able and willing to speak what I know I’m not the only one feeling!!!
