The ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL has become the summer’s hottest ticket by giving fans the opportunity to experience a thrilling mix of hard music’s most influential artists and exciting young voices. This summer’s lineup turns up the heat with a main stage lineup that sees KORN and ROB ZOMBIE joined by LAMB OF GOD and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH. The JAGERMEISTER stage will feature HATEBREED, CHIMAIRA, SHADOWS FALL, WINDS OF PLAGUE and the JAGERMEISTER Battle of The Bands Winner. The second stage will spotlight ATREYU, NORMA JEAN, IN THIS MOMENT and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD.

The World’s Greatest Freestyle Motocross team, METAL MULISHA, will return to rev up audiences with their unique style of death-defying motorcycle stunts. Also featured on this year’s tour will be the bombastic BEACHER’S MADHOUSE, a sexy costume party combined with outrageous variety acts, beautiful dancers, scantily-clad Beacher’s Babies, DJ’s and so much more. Comedian Jay Oakerson (seen on Comedy Central) will also be on hand to deliver an onslaught of unbridled awesomeness and raunchy rock n roll comedy.

The ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL will be the first major city tour for KORN in support of their 9^th studio album, tentatively titled Korn III – Remember Who You Are. The new album marks the return of producer Ross Robinson, who worked with Korn on their first two releases, Korn and Life is Peachy. Lead vocalist Jonathan Davis has said that the new material matches the pure raw emotion of Korn’s early releases while the current touring band has never been tighter. “It’s the perfect mix, says Davis, “and Mayhem is the perfect place to set it off. We can’t wait for the fans to hear it!”

ROB ZOMBIE recently released his Roadrunner / Loud & Proud debut Hellbilly Deluxe 2 on February 2^nd. Over the course of the past 18 years, Zombie has sold more than 15 million records as a solo artist and with his former band, White Zombie. Says Zombie, “It’s been over a decade since my last tour with Korn, so this pairing is long overdue. Mayhem will be one amazingly destructive way to spend the summer. “

The ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL is produced by Rockstar Taste of Chaos organizer John Reese, Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman and Creative Artists Agency.  The trio has made Mayhem a standout on the summer concert circuit by following the proven model of utilizing sponsorship to deliver a lower ticket price and an enhanced concert experience. This year sees them joining forces once again with ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK as the title sponsor.

LAMB OF GOD recently received a Grammy nomination for “Best Metal Performance” for “Set To Fail” from their most recent release, Wrath, which entered Billboard’s Top 200 at No. 2.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH’s current album, War Is the Answer, debuted at # 7 on the Billboard charts. They were on the first-ever Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in 2007 and have since established themselves as one of America’s most popular hard rock/ metal bands.

In addition to catching their favorite bands, Mayhem-goers can enjoy a plethora of festival activities, including playing the newest video games, perusing vendors, attending autograph signing sessions and a slew of other interactive activities that enhance the concert experience.

Originality gives way to formula, ambition gives way to laziness. With every generation of one hit wonders, it gets worse.

But every so often, the music industry gets a bitchslap.

Welcome to the next level of aggression. Howitzer has taken their disgust for the repetitive and have crafted their own brand of pure heavy metal. They don’t play by the rules, they don’t follow formulas, and they don’t listen to anybody – they simply put their money where their mouth is.

Since forming in 2000, Howitzer – Jeremy Jalowiec (drums), Matt Moody (vocals/guitars) and Beau Diveley (bass) – have sharpened their skills and honed their hatred to put together the strongest metal release of 2008, the aptly titled Rise to Power.

Rise to Power is the band’s signature perfection – it solidifies the long struggle and natural progression of the three separate entities that are the core of Howitzer. Backgrounds as diverse as jazz, punk, classic rock, blues, and old school metal come together to bring you a modern day Frankenstein of bone crushing metal.

I, for one, am personally impressed at how the band has possessed a juggernaut of talent and determination that has steadily increased since their humble punk beginnings. Long gone are the quickly strewn together songs, simplistic riffs rambling underneath.

Today, separating Howitzer from the tired formulas is the addition of three distinctive vocal styles meshed and interwoven throughout their songs. Those simplistic riffs of their early beginnings have given way to intricate time changes and masterful rhythms without the need to downtune.

But Rise to Power is only part of the story. 5.) The Deftones (End of Summer Scorcher)

The Deftones took the stage 2nd to last and they sounded amazing.  Chino Moreno’s voice sounded great, the band was tight, everything was just perfect.  Not knowing that could have been the last time we saw Chi Cheng playing his bass.  Chi is still in a coma after a car accident he suffered and he remains unresponsive.

4.) Linkin Park (Project Revolution)

This year’s Project Revolution featured Chris Cornell, The Bravery, Ashes Divide, Atreyu, Hawthorne Heights, 10 Years, Armor for Sleep, and Street Drum Corps, but just like very year, the band that steals show is the headlining band: Linkin Park.

Linkin Park never ceases to amaze me with the amount of energy and showmanship they put into every one of their shows; From their stage setup and lighting to the props and pyros, their shows are generally mind-blowing. August 7, 2008 at the Cricket Pavilion was no exception to the high bar they’ve set for themselves. Linkin Park put on one hell of a performance in ’08!

3.) Slipknot (Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour)

This tour was jammed packed with one badass band after another.  I have never seen an outdoor multi-stage tour be so crowded so early in the day.  Especially here in Phoenix where it was over 100 degrees on July 18.  There were no fillers, every band on this tour was solid!

On the main stage you had Slipknot, Disturbed, DragonForce, Mastodon.

The Jagermeister stage included Machine Head, Airbourne, Five Finger Death Punch, and my personal favorite Walls of Jericho.

The Hot Topic stage included Underoath, Black Tide, Suicide Silence, 36 Crazyfist, and The Red Chord.

But of course, none of these bands could match the intensity, sheer rawness and just plain and simple SICKNESS of Slipknot.  When Slipknot takes the stage you are just so overwhelmed with everything that is going on that you just loose control and go nuts! Next time Slipknot is in town you’d be an idiot not go experience it for yourself!

2.) Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige  (Heart of the City tour)

Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige on the same stage; need I say more?  This show was one of those fine dreams that you don’t want to wake up from.

The show started off with the two mega-stars sharing the stage performing Jay-Z’s Can’t Stop The Hustle.

Mary J. Blige then took the stage accompanied by a full band that included a strings octet, four horn players, two keyboardists, and a pair of drummers. But the real instrument that night was Mary’s voice; to experience Mary J. Blige live is truly a spiritual thing.

Jay-Z wearing all black with matching black shades, got down to business performing his classics I Just Wanna Love You (Give It To Me), 99 Problems and Can I Get A …; Even at age 38 the rapper, mogul, and new husband of Beyonce Knowles can still hold it down!

1.) Metallica (Death Magnetic Tour)

Arizona was the first leg of the 37-date North American tour in support of Metallica’s latest album Death Magnetic album which has sold over 1 million copies to date.  The stage was round with microphones all around the round stage, and a group of floating coffin-shaped lighting rigs above.  Green lasers illuminated the stage only to be inflamed with awesome pyros.

Metallica owned the stage that night and watching a band that’s been around that long and still bring it every time.  It’s just awesome!
